Not even Meghan Markle can escape the effects of Netflix’s cutbacks!
According to Deadline, Netflix has cancelled Meghan Markle’s animated series ‘Pearl’ which would have been the first animated series to be developed by Markle and Prince Harry’s production company, Archewell Productions.
When it was announced in July last year, Markle said the show would follow the “heroic adventures” of a 12-year-old girl who finds inspiration in the stories of influential women throughout history.
“Like many girls her age, our heroine Pearl is on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to overcome life’s daily challenges,” she said.
“I’m thrilled that Archewell Productions, partnered with the powerhouse platform of Netflix and these incredible producers, will together bring you this new animated series, which celebrates extraordinary women throughout history.”
She added, “David Furnish and I have been eager to bring this special series to light, and I am delighted we are able to announce it today.”
While ‘Pearl’ will no longer going ahead, their docuseries about the Invictus Games, Heart of Invictus, will be available to stream later this year.
Heart of Invictus will follow the competitors as they prepare for the 2022 games for injured military members.
